2024 AAFP Annual Conference

The AAFP is excited to announce this year's annual conference theme, Dermatology, Cardiology, & Diagnostic Methodology. This will be a truly unique conference that encourages attendees in various stages of their professional development to increase their feline knowledge and elevate their standard of care for cats. Sessions are still being finalized but will include all areas of feline dermatology, cardiology, and diagnostic methodology.
Additional speakers will be added as the agenda is finalized. *Speakers are subject to change.
RACE Credits
The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) RACE committee has not yet approved this program as meeting the Standards adopted by the AAVSB. We fully expect this program to receive AAVSB approval as we have in previous years. This program will be included on the AAVSB's website once it is approved.
NY State CE
The New York State Board of Veterinary Medicine has approved the AAFP as a sponsor of continuing education for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Veterinarian Track Sessions:
• Dermatology: feline allergies & atopic skin syndrome, feline eosinophilic granuloma complex, cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease, autoimmune disease, how to diagnose & treat otitis,
dermatology or behavior?, dermatologic conundrums, topical therapy for dermatology, rare dermatosis in cats, dermatological foot & claw disorders, & infections skin diseases other than ringworm.
• Cardiology: diagnosis & management of feline HCM, secret of heart murmurs in cats, diagnosis & management of syncope, oral Rapamycin therapy in feline subclinical HCM, management of acute & chronic heart failure, changing F.A.T.E – why saddle thrombus is no longer a death sentence, is classification of cardiomyopathy truly useful?, cardiorenal syndrome, respiratory distress – is it the heart or lung?, diet & dilated cardiomyopathy, & improving skills in diagnosing heart disease & heart failure in cats.
• Diagnostic Methodologies: effusions, infectious disease cytology, the power of genetic testing for disease detection, Panel – radioactive iodine treatment patient considerations & how to set up a facility, clinical enzymology major markers, cancer cytopathology, approach to exam & interpretation of the pancreas with ultrasonography, optimizing sample submissions to maximize diagnostic results, diagnosing obstructive GI disease with radiography, ultrasonography in icteric cats, decoding ECGs, & recognizing airway disease.
Technician Track (2 full days):
Diagnostic approach to itchy cats, Cat Friendly interactions and handling for technicians, collecting & preparing diagnostic samples, benefits of creating emotional records, case- based approach to general anesthesia, setting up the anesthesia machine, trouble-shooting anesthesia monitoring, CRI calculations, nerve blocks for cats, dental radiographs, coccygeal blocks, pet safety –
preventing injuries to humans & cats, and more!
